Expanded Renewable Energy
New Hampshire law (RSA 72:62) allows towns to offer property tax exemptions for residential solar energy systems, but it doesn't require them to do so. That means whether homeowners receive this incentive depends entirely on where they live.
I believe that isn't fair.
If we want to encourage clean energy, lower electricity costs, and give homeowners more control over rising utility bills, these exemptions shouldn't be optional. Every New Hampshire homeowner should have the same opportunity, regardless of their ZIP code.
That's why I will fight to require every town in New Hampshire to offer the solar property tax exemption under RSA 72:62.
Coupled with the current federal 30% Residential Clean Energy Tax Credit, this exemption would make solar more affordable for families, help reduce monthly utility costs, and encourage greater investment in clean, renewable energy. It's a practical step toward lowering our dependence on fossil fuels while helping New Hampshire homeowners save money and build a more sustainable future.
